FINDING THE SWEET SPOT
If you are a baseball player you know about “finding the sweet spot” on the baseball bat. When you hit a ball just right, you’ve hit it on one of the “sweet spots” of the bat. – It takes some effort and practice to find that sweet spot – but the thrill of feeling that connection to your bat , and the ball doing what it is meant to do is worth the effort.
And then you golfers know the feel of hitting that ball with the sweet spot of your club – and you know when you haven’t. It is exciting to see the ball launch and move through the sky to the intended destination!
I was riding my bike the other day and I kept thinking about finding the sweet spot of life. It is such a good feeling when you swing the bat through your day and that feeling of hitting it out of the ballpark; that awareness that this has been a good day. In spite of running into road blocks at times or getting a strike out or a ball ends up in the sand or the weeds you end your day thanking God for His guidance and protection and His presence that has been with you through it all.
There is not such an easy formula to find the “sweet Spot” of your life. But God intends for you to know it and live your life winning the game. There are formulas to help you find that sweet spot on your bat or your club – but they still take a lot of practice. God has given us the formula to live our lives in the fulfillment and joy of hitting the “ball” right on and accomplishing why we are in the ballpark standing up to bat!
“Commit your way to the Lord, TRUST also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass”
(PS. 37:5)
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”
(Ps 37:23)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5
“….give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your; For they are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20).
Living in that “sweet spot” does not necessarily mean hitting home runs – it is found in the knowledge that we are fulfilling God’s purpose for our life in the flow of God’s will. It is being content with who we are and where He has placed us.
Always remember, that no matter what the day holds for us…”This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it: (Ps. 118:24)
