Have you ever tried to define the meaning of the word “Love”. It is so important to understand what this most popular of all emotions is all about…and I am not the person to give you the technical definition or the theological definition of the definition a teenage lover might give you.
Lets turn our hearts and minds to our Heavenly Father for “GOD IS LOVE” and when we made Jesus our Lord and Saviour, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in our born again spirit and when the Holy Spirit came he poured into us God’s love. So the marvelous fact of Gods word is that we have within us God’s love.
I Corinthians 13:4-8 -describes this love: “Love is patient and kind…not jealous or boastful or proud or rude…not irritable – keeping no records…rejoices in truth..NEVER gives up, or loses faith, is always hopeful and endures thru everything.” These are words on paper that are truth – but have you ever been overtaken by love – experienced the fragile, beautiful, comforting knowing that you are loved? Do you hunger to be recipient of a pure love that is not flawed by human explanations. Then you are hungering for an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Knowing Jesus in a personal relationship, brings God’s love into a very personal arena. The door to your soul is opened when you submit yourself to the King Jesus. He then comes to live in your very soul by his Holy Spirit. Now you have the capacity to be overtaken by a pure love as you live your days in developing this relationship. This kind of love will produce joy, laughter, happiness, sometimes tears – but all the while this love grows and becomes the necessary fuel for your life. The beautiful result is that those in your life will reap the benefits we read about in I Corinthians 13 – we will be patient and kind and not rude nor irritable or jealous – always hopeful.
Romans 5:5 says “Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (NKJ) God has created us with the capacity to love and has poured his love into our Spirit – we then are left with the decision to draw on that supply and pour that love into others. Think about what an adventure life can be when we decide to submit to the indwelling spirit and allow the love of God to rule in our lives
