Sandi Patty sings the song:

“There is strength in the name of the Lord, there is power in the name of the Lord, there is Hope in the name of the Lord, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”

The words of this song ministered to me in a powerful way at a particular time in my life.

This is taken from Matthew 21:9. As Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem the crowds were excited – as he rode into town on a borrowed donkey they lined his road with branches and their clothes and cried out the words saying”

” Hosanna to the Son of David!  Blessed is He who comes in thename of the Lord’ Hosanna in the highest’…and when He had come intoJerusalem, all the city was moved, saying ‘who is this?’. So the multitudes said ‘This is Jesus’”

This is Jesus – the Source of our Strength, Power and Hope.

It reminds us that nothing or no one is beyond his reach.  As the crowd said those words they really didn’t understand how powerfully they spoke.   They had just witnessed the miracles and teachings that were visible to their eyes.

Today we understand the depth of those words as His Strength, Power and Hope reach far beyond what is visible.  He reaches deep into our hearts and lives and dwells with and in us.  He spans the limits of time and distance to hear and answer our hearts cry.  When we submitted ourselves to His lordship he gave us access to His Strength, Power and Hope.

Do we need to be reminded of the Lord’s ability to supply our need of Strength, Power and Hope?  Or do we sometimes limp along on our own weak, powerless lame legs claiming with our lips our allegiance to the Lord – but in fact showing no evidence of His Strength, Power and Hope.  I, for one, tend to rely on my self sufficiency until I crash – and then look up to Him and say, once again, fill me with your Strength, Power and Hope

Jesus words in John 10:10b “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”.  I believe the Father must pity us when He sees our feeble attempts to walk in our own strength and ability while all the time Jesus has provided all we need for abundant life and living. But we need to call on the Lord and receive his Strength, Power and Hope.

From my journal….

Children of mine I am ready and able to be all the strength, power and hope you need in your life.  Your requirement is simply to communicate with me – express yourself to me and listen to my voice.  My voice calls to you from the pages of my Holy book – open and listen and your spirit will drink in my life and teachings and they will be strength, power and hope to you.
