Have you ever heard yourself saying – “that’s just not me – I am not comfortable in that situation”. So we keep this mask on of who we think we are . Where did this mask come from – how was it created? I’m sure there are many thoughts on this but we know much of it comes from we what hear said to us – good and bad. Or perhaps you tried to step out and do something different and you failed. Consequently you closed the door on a talent or ability that could have been.
Unfortunately the older we get the more immovable the masks become. And yet we are created in God’s image for God’s purposes to which there are no boundaries (age or otherwise).
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” Eph. 2:10
Think about the things in life that we avoid because they are not comfortable. That may be the very things God wants you to experience – even if there are some “failures” involved. If we live our life each day yielding to God moment by moment we may be surprised what we find ourselves doing! This is an exciting challenge. We may find adventure in places we least expect to find it.
I ask you to join me in this challenge to unmask and be willing to be used of God in any way He leads – comfortable or not! No more – “I couldn’t do that – that’s just not me” – if God is leading – than lets follow unafraid and take every challenge He brings. The truth is it is His power in us that accomplishes any task so why are we afraid to step out of our comfort zones?
“The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives” Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
