Lord, today I am so full of “thoughts”. I would like to express the deep feelings that you have placed in me. I Feel they are there to be shared. Words just seem so inadequate. How does one put their heart on paper? Come to think of it – you have enabled people to express your heart on paper – our precious Word of God.
The first issue is to be totally honest in what is written – knowing that it may be read at any time in life. Another issue is to not be so concerned with how the words flow together or how much people will like what is written. It is important that the words come from the heart .
There is also a need for organization as the thoughts will not benefit anyone if they are hidden away in the backroads of the computer. Become proficient with the tools that you have.
Today a buzz word seems to be “be real” – not always so easy to do. We have built in protective thinking that keeps us from exposing the unpleasant side of our personalities – . However if we are going to be “real” in our writing assignments we have to become vulnerable. It puts people at ease if we can say “been there, done that” as they hit the potholes of life.
The third issue for those who feel God has called them to “write the vision” is that of procrastination. There is always something important to be done in the daily humdrum of life. These responsibilities can become an easy shelter from actually sitting down to write. OK – tomorrow I will have some time, but as we all know tomorrow never comes.
As for “what” to write. If God has gifted you He will supply the fuel. However, as we have heard many times – “you can’t steer a car that is not moving”.
I have written these thoughts directed to myself. However I know there are others of you who feel the need to express yourself in written form . Maybe these thoughts will help you get the car moving (or at least out of the garage!). Isn’t it wonderful to know our loving Heavenly Father has promised to guide us along the way.
Psalm 32:8 – “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
